The unparalleled ratings force known as the Disney Channel Original Movie franchise did it again this past Friday night with the premiere of “Good Luck Charlie: It’s Christmas.” The movie was followed by the huge ratings launch of original series “Austin & Ally.”

Overall, led by “Good Luck Charlie: It’s Christmas” and “Austin & Ally,” Disney Channel held Friday’s Top 11 TV telecasts in Kids 6-11the Top 16 TV telecasts in Tweens 9-14 and the Top 2 telecasts across all cable TV in Total Viewers. 

  • A family viewing event, “Good Luck Charlie: It’s Christmas” (8:00 – 9:30 p.m.) delivered 6.9 million Total Viewers, 3.3 million Kids 6-11, 2.4 million Tweens 9-14 and 1.4 million Adults 18-49, becoming the No. 1 live-action movie of 2011 in Total Viewers and the No. 1 live-action scripted TV telecast in Kids 6-11.
  • Good Luck Charlie: It’s Christmas” ranked as Friday’s No. 1 TV telecast in Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, cable’s No. 1 telecast in Total Viewers and the No. 3 cable telecast for the day in Adults 18-49.
  • Good Luck Charlie: It’s Christmas” was easily TV’s No. 1 telecast in its time period in target kid demos, surpassing Nickelodeon/Nick-At-Nite by 446% in Kids 6-11 (3.3 million vs. 603,000) and by 413% in Tweens 9-14 (2.4 million vs. 468,000).
  • Disney Channel now owns the Top 2 cable movies of 2011 in Total Viewers with the August debut of “Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension” (8/5/11) and now “Good Luck Charlie: It’s Christmas.”
  • At 9:30 p.m., “Austin & Ally” delivered a hefty 5.7 million Total Viewers, ranking as Disney Channel’s No. 2 series debut on record in Kids 6-11 (2.7 million/11.0 ratingand its No. 1 series launch ever in Boys 6-11 (1.0 million/8.0 rating).
